DUMAGUETE'S PRIDE, one of the winners in ABS-CBN's Showtime Weekly Finals, was congratulated by Mayor Sagarbarria as they made a courtesy call on the city mayor. They are proudly composed of different members from the Skip Dance Crew, Tightbeat and Kabilin Dance Troupe, all Dumagueteños, who gave the city nationwide exposure.

Optional, not mandatory.

This is the popular clamor of Dumagueteños in a forthcoming class suit by most of the 20,000 or so city motorbikers on the implementation of the mandatory wearing of helmets using a specified type, under pain of a heavy financial sanction.

Slated to be filed before the Regional Trial Court after the Holy Week break is a class suit, which is now being passed around for a possible mass signing at Robinsons Place since this public signing is mandated in such class suit and representing identifiable sectors. The simple prayer is to make this helmet wearing optional and not mandatory, especially within the city limits. Supporters of this cause is appealing to motorists and all sectors alike to set aside politics, and for once, consider the general welfare of this motorbike-riding city. GROUNDS to declare portions of the law unconstitutional are anchored on the following.

The only way for the government to combat the unabated increase in fuel prices is for the government itself to become one of the players of the industry. Otherwise, it cannot protect the public from apparent wanton rise in the prices of fuel, because apparently, our fuel supplies have formed a virtual fuel cartel.

For us in Dumaguete, there is an ongoing construction of an import fuel depot of FILOIL, which can hopefully lead in selling cheaper fuel in Negros Oriental, because it can stock enough fuel in its own depot in Amlan, which are delivered by suppliers direct from the source.

Every year, on Easter, we proclaim that Jesus Christ was triumphed over suffering and death. Alleluia! Every year, we so proclaim, as if, or it is because, nothing has appy Easter! For many of us in the Christian world, Easter is a celebration of life. On Easter, Christians commemorate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus.

Easter marks the defeat of death and the victory of life. In my personal reflections of Easter, I hope continually that happened with us in the past.

I am the ressurrection and the life --- he who believes in me will live, even though he dies.”
