  1. FOUR TYPHOONS ONE QUAKE HIT NEGOR Four typhoons merely threatened but in the last few hours before they hit land, they diverted their paths. Most people believed it was all answered-prayers. Agaton in January; Doming in April; a 6.5 earthquake hit Hinobaan nearby, we got intensity 4; then Queenie with floods. (Full story here...)

      Diocese on Pope’s “Curia” blisters

Bishop Julito Cortes, DD, the head of the predominantly Catholic community in the diocese of Dumaguete with close to a million members in Negros Oriental, and Siquijor complimented the frank assessment of Pope Francis in Rome about his “blistering admonitions” to the Rome-based Curia, or his administrative department.

The Curia in the smaller dioceses all over the world is represented by the diocesan pastoral center headed by the vicar general and the judicial vicar.

Pope Francis issued a blistering indictment of the Vatican bureaucracy Monday, accusing the cardinals, bishops and priests who serve him of using their Vatican careers to grab power and wealth, of living “hypocritical” double lives and forgetting that they’re supposed to be joyful men of God.

To the Catholic Church’s “seven deadly sins,” Pope Francis has added the “15 ailments of the Curia.”...

CRITICAL REPORTING

Do you know that there are at least l6 possible successors of President PNoy Aquino in 2016? And if given enough opportunities, these 16 probable presidential candidates will never say no for this once-ina- lifetime offer. It is also an honor to be a presidentiable.

I recall the late Sen Lorenzo Teves from Negros Oriental was one of those considered as vice president of President Marcos. Until now, Negrenses felt the honor of just being considered among many of course.

The latest SWS Social Weather Station survey shows that the sixteen probables are the following with their survey scores: VP Jejomar Binay 37% of those surveyed favor him ;No. 1 Senator Grace Poe 21%,; DILG Sec Mar Roxas 19%;l Miriam Santiago 10%...

EDITORIAL

Never in the history of the centuries old Catholic Church have we heard of the hardest hitting, “blistering admonitions” by the Holy Father to the bureaucracy of the Holy See especially and emanating from the Vatican in Rome, hurled Monday by Pope Francis I.

Yet the Diocese of Dumaguete headed by Bishop Julito Cortes, was quick to say that those blistering admonitions by the Pope covers everyone, down to the last clergyman even in the farthest parish in the world. Painful but true.

The purpose of the Church is divine, yes, but the Church is ran by humans who are weak and quick to sin, and nobody is exempted—— from cardinals, bishops, priest to the last altar boy.

You can read the newly exposed l5 sins of the Curia in this issue and we ask you to email us of your feedbacks. Pls text 09189296047 once you have emailed your piece. We say it’s about time the ills of the church bureaucracy be fixed. Example: how will we know if the Vatican bank is laundering dirty money of the mafia because of strong Sisillian connections inside Italy where Vatican lies? Locally how does one know how a lowly parish priest account for all collections?
