19 carnapping raps


Elements of the Provincial Highway Patrol Team arrested eighteen suspects since January of the current year, which also resulted to the recovery of some carnapped vehicles.

Insp. Robelito Mariano, PHPT Team Leader, also reported that two carnapping suspects, both residing in Dumaguete City have been convicted as charged.

Sentenced to 14 years and eight months as minimum to 17 years and four months imprisonment was Joreiz C. Barraquias of Barangay Bagacay Dumaguete City, while James A. Arbolado of Barangay Taclobo, also of Dumaguete City, was also convicted to four years and one day to six years.

Six of those arrested with warrants were: Gino S. Grey of Dumaguete City; Garner Ted S. Maravillas of Tanjay City; Vicente C. Ortega Jr. of Dumaguete City; Juanito U. Boy Lee of Sibulan; Nestor John E. Panolino and Robert G. Castillo, both resident of Dumaguete City. Except for Lee, who posted bail the four other suspects are now detained.

Eight others were arrested through patrol operations: Jerry F. Sanguenza, Dumaguete City; Jay Paul C. Abueva, Canlaon City; Bonifacio A. Providencia, Ronel P. Torres, Arnel P. Cuevas of Sibulan; Paul Aron Estela of Dumaguete City; Michael M. Caballero, Dumaguete City and Jessie Abella Cadiente Jr. also of Dumaguete City.
