Dumaguete needs 75 more police vs. crime

Following his appointment as full fledge city chief of police, Supt. Jovito Atanacio requested Mayor Ipe Remollo’s assistance to convince higher authorities to deploy 75 additional policemen to achieve the ideal police to population ratio of 1 is to 700 to ensure higher mobility and quick response.

Atanacio also recommended for the establishment of 5 more sub-stations in response to population growth, commercialization, anti-crime drive and to address the worsening traffic situation of the Central Business District especially during peak hours.

This developed as, Mayor Felipe “Ipe” Remollo formally accepted the assignment of Supt. Jovito Atancio as the full fledged Chief-of-Police of the Dumaguete City Police Station after serving as its Officer-in-Charge for several months prior.

Atanacio’s desire to remain as the top cop of the city was granted via an order from the Philippine National Police Headquarters in Camp Crame that was facilitated with the full and sincere endorsement of Mayor Remollo. (By Dems Demecillo)
