Dumaguete passporting marks 1st anniversary

The Department of Foreign Affairs-Regional Con-sular Office (DFA-RCO) in Dumaguete celebrated recently its first anniversary of local passport processing.

Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Remollo and former Ambassador MacActhur Corsino graced the occasion at Robinsons-Dumaguete. In line with the government’s Private-Public Partnership (PPP) Agenda and with a view to make consular services more accessible and convenient to the public, DFA-RCO Dumaguete formally opened in October last year at Robinson mall here. In his remarks, Mayor Remollo cited that under his administration, DFA will be expecting significant number of clients for passport processing due to more private companies and foreign investors who signified to invest in the city.

3 seals of good governance

Dumaguete City and two local government units (LGUs) in Negros Oriental will receive this year’s Seal of Good Local Governance from the Department of Interior of Local Government (DILG).

City Local Government Operations Officer Farah Diba Gentuya said the city is recognized for its remarkable performance and commitment to the quest for honest and competent local government. DILG Secretary Ismael D. Sueno told Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo that the city did not only pass the three minimum parameters of the core components of the award namely but also met and aced all three essential areas: business friendliness and competitiveness, peace and order, and environmental management. The three minimum parameters are financial administration, social protection and disaster preparedness. The two other awardees from the province include also Bayawan City and Zamboanguita which passed the three minimum parameters and met two of three essential areas.

NORSU 100% in M.E exam; has 5 new licensed chemists

Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) gets 100% passing percentage (16 out of 16) in the recent Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examination given in September this year in Manila.

Engr. Elijah Serate, assistant dean and chair of the mechanical engineering department of NORSU said the national passing percentage was 69.57% (3,110 out of 4, 470). The 16 successful examinees of the College of Engineering and Architecture are:

Syril AGBON, Caryl June ALFORQUE, John Andre BAYONA, Genessia CABALLES, Sharon CABCABAN, Ariel John CADILIG, Jenelito CADIVIDA, Jomari CORDORA, Cody Brent CORREOS, Michael GRAMATICA, Raymond MAHINAY, Marie, Reyneith PIMENTEL, Jocelyn QUIBIDO, Asterio QUILAPQUILAP, Charmaine TILOS, Rose Lyn TOBIAS.

The Chemistry Department of the College of Arts and Sciences announces its five new licensed chemists. They are Irlen Mark Ian ALVARO (Dipolog City), Jesson BELEN (Dumaguete City), Karyl MALONES (Ayungon, NegOr), Zaidy MARTIN (Siquijor) and April Joy PEDROS (Canlaon City). It also has one chemical technician, Rhemma Tolentino (Jimalalud, NegOr). (Joy G. Perez)
