SPUD’s basic education principal fresh from Hawaii

St. Paul University Dumaguete – Basic Education Department has a new leader and young frontrunner, Sr. Emelita S. Alvarez, SPC from Dasmariñas City, Province of Cavite.

Sister Emy is a Licensed Teacher since 1991. She completed her elementary and secondary education at the Paliparan Elementary School in 1981 and Philippine Christian University in 1985 respectively.

She obtained her Bachelor in Secondary Education Major in Library Science at the Philippine Women’s University in 1990 and acquired her Master of Education in School Leadership with Distinction at De La Salle University, Taft Avenue, Manila in 2008. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Philosophy Major in Educational Management at St. Paul University Manila.

From 1994 until 2006, she served numerous positions and assignments in the SPC Congregation and SPC Institutions around the country as Catechist, Faculty,

Librarian, Professor, Choir & Activity Coordinator, Head of the Campus Ministry and Grade School Principal in Misamis Oriental, Iloilo, Pasig City, Surigao del Sur and Camarines Sur.

She was assigned to Honolulu, Hawaii, USA to act as Youth Coordinator, Catechist, Student Council Adviser and Assistant School Principal at the St. Anthony Parish until 2011.

She then came back to the Philippines to take her new assignment as the Basic Education Principal at St. Paul University Philippines in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan until 2012; thereafter she served as Directress & Principal of St. Andrew Catholic School in Bugallon, Pangasinan.

Prior to her current assignment in Dumaguete City, she served as Basic Education Principal at St. Paul University at San Miguel, Bulacan.

In an interview and conversation, she is pointed out that SPUD should participate and be part of the different programs and initiatives of the Department of Education, other government agencies and developmental organizations in order to be well-informed of the global educational advancements.
