City offers to host National Palaro 2017

True to his objective of turning Dumaguete City as the next sports tourism hub in this part of the country, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has accepted the challenge to join the bid to host the 2017 Palarong Pambansa. Above are DepEd Palaro venue evaluators from NIR and Manila.

The Department of Education and Philippine Sports Commission sent a joint delegation of officials to evaluate the technical capacity of the city and province prior to meeting with Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo. The bidding will be held on Nov. 18 at the Deped Central Office, which shall be between the province of Antique and Dumaguete City in partnership with Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.

Remollo expressed optimism that the city has already proven itself to be capable to host the annual national sports event featuring thousands of students athletes from the 18 regions including ARMM. The next challenge would be to provide infrastructure to help develop local athletes to excel in their chosen disciplines.
