Ways to prevent heart attack

Previously, this writer had reported the impor tant topic of “Heart Attack”. This time, let us learn some effective ways to prevent its occurrence. Of course, many of us may already know what a classical heart attack is. This extremely serious ailment is also known as “myocardial infarction”. This occurs when an area of the heart muscle is damaged or dies because a coronary artery has been blocked and the oxygen supply to that area has been drastically reduced, thus causing a crushing pain in the middle of the chest. However, if a major artery has been raptured, it may result in cardiac arrest, and if the victim is not rushed to the ICU of the hospital, he may not live. But if the treatment is prompted, he may still survive. A heart attack is an extreme EMERGENCY!

Cardiologists have advised 8 ways to prevent Heart Attack.

1. Don’t smoke.

2. Eat a diet that gets 25% of its calories from fat, 60 to 65% from carbohydrates and 10 to 15% from protein, with 25 to 35g.of fiber.

3. Walk the equivalent of 2 miles a day most days.

4. Lose weight if you’re overweight.

5. Decrease saturated intake to no more than 20g. daily (10g. If you’ve had a heart attack.)

6. Decrease dietary cholesterol to no more than 300mg. daily (200mg. if you’ve had a heart attack.)

7. If you’re a postmenopausal woman, discuss hormone replacement therapy with your physician.

8. Regularly practice stress reduction technique.
