City eyes P639M budget for 2017


Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo has proposed a budget for 2017 amounting to P 639 million after prior consultations with various stakeholders.

City Budget Officer Antonieta D. General said that the proposed budget is lower than the current year (2016) and has been approved by the various special bodies and will now be presented to the City Council for authorization through the passage of an appropriation ordinance.

Under the proposed budget: compensation, salaries and wages for officials and employees amounted to P 280.1 million; Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) amounted P228.9 million and Capital Outlay mainly infrastructure projects amounted to P129.8 million.

Projects under the 20% Development Fund amounted P 78.6 million while the 5% Calamity Fund at P 31.9 million.

Major expenditures under MOOE: Scholarship grants P3 million; travel expenses, P 3.1 million; Training expenses, P5.5 million; Food supplies, P1.8 million; drugs and medicine expenses, P2.6million; medical, dental laboratory, P545, 000; fuel, oil, lubricants, P9.8million; water expenses, P2.4 million; electricity expenses, P17 million; telephone expenses, P2.1 million; environment and sanitary expenses, P5.4 million; security services, P8.8 million; repair and maintenance of motor vehicles, P9.7 million; insurance expenses, P 3.8 million; other general services, P37 million; other maintenance and operating expenses, P61 million.

Meanwhile, Remollo, who as mayor is entitled of up to P 6 million intelligence fund, has decided to appropriate the amount for additional services for the senior citizens, children, women and sports development.
