No vice governor for Negros Oriental

Senior Provincial Board Member Dra. Leland Estacion was no show in Mondays regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. She is supposed to assume the position of vice governor in view of the assumption of duty of Vice Governor Mark Macias as Governor as a consequent of the dismissal of Gov.Roel Degamo.

It should be recalled that on Friday June 17, the DILG served the dismissal order of the governor. Consequently Vice Governor Mark Macias assumed as Governor to prevent a vacuum of leadership. In the order of hierarchy under the Local Government Code, the Senior Board Member is supposed to fill in the vacancy of the vice governor office.

However, an official statement from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan secretary says that there has been no contact whatsoever with BM. Leland Estacion since Friday up to around 3:00 pm June 20. The regular session of the provincial board is scheduled every Monday at 2:00 pm.

On Monday’s session however Board Member Leland Estacion was absent , in this situation, the option open to the members of the SP is to elect a presiding officer for that particular session and they elected BM. Mariant Villegas and proceeded to the Order of the Day.
