Pusher killed for firing at cops (kono)

Twice booked under Operation Tokhang in barangay Looc, a certain Victor Asonio, 46 years old, separated, resident of Barangay Looc, allegedly resisted arrest and fired at a police- poseur buyer during a buy-bust operation last night, prompting the police officer to shoot back killing him on the spot.

Dumaguete Acting Chief of Police PSupt Jovito M. Atanacio said a drug transaction between a police asset and the suspect was for them to meet at Emilio Aguinaldo Street, in Amigo Subdivision, Piapi at 11:00 o’clock last night, but when the buy-bust was consummated at the designated area, Asonio noticed that he was transacting to a police-poseur buyer and immediately pulled a gun and fired at the police officer who reacted quickly using his service firearm.

Scene of the Crime operatives (SOCO) recovered from the crime scene, a home made caliber .38 revolver believed to be owned by the suspect containing rounds of ammunition, a P500 peso bill, a 3-in-one coffee, spent shells for cal. 9 mm pistol and two sachets believed to contain shabu inside his pocket.

At the police crime lab, the recovered firearm contained one fire shell, three mis-fired bullets and one live ammunition for Cal. 38 revolver.

But to their surprise he changed his decision for reasons he cannot leave his 2-year old daughter to his live-in partner in Sibulan.

She said the family can accept their brother was shot dead, but would refuse to believe he has a gun, resisted arrest and fired at the police officer.
